7. Spot “Goats in Trees”
One of the most unusual and photographed sights in Morocco is the local goats perched high in the branches of Argan trees. These agile climbers have evolved to scale the thorny trees to reach the yellow Argan fruit, which is a vital part of their diet. As you drive toward the outskirts of Agadir, you’ll see dozens of goats standing balanced on thin limbs like feathered birds. It is a fascinating display of nature’s adaptability and a must-see for anyone traveling through the Souss-Massa region. Be sure to have your camera ready, as it is a sight you truly have to see to believe.
Note: Many local cooperatives nearby will show you how the Argan nuts once processed by the goats are turned into the world-famous “Liquid Gold” cosmetic oil.
